Winter is here time to put our jackets on your calves.
With winter kicking in and temperatures dropping its time to put our jackets on your calves.
A young calf's thermoneutral zone (it doesn’t need to spend extra energy on heating or cooling) is approx. 10C - 25C. Calves over a month, its 0C -23C.
Every 1 degree C below the thermoneutral zone requires 2% more energy, so a young calf at freezing requires 20% more energy = 20% more milk/milk solids.
Our calf coats save this food energy, so calves grow better. Also, they do not feel cold or draughts, so increased comfort leads to less stress, a better immune system and less disease. I have been told that the difference is like "Night and Day!" in the calf health and growth.
Attaches round neck and back legs. No belly band which will become soiled and infect the naval. Available 2 sizes - small & large. Discounts available on bulk orders call the G Shepherd Animal Health sales team on 01772 690131 or visit www.gshepherdanimalhealth.co.uk for more information
