Johnes Disease
Yikes! Johnes disease is a big, complicated subject. My advice is to take professional advice! ... either from myself and/or your own Vet. Again it's about knowing your enemy- is it Johnes- have you got it?- HAVE YOU NOT GOT IT!?, are you likely to introduce it? To what extent have you got it? What are you going to do about it?!
This disease and the problems surrounding it are NOT going to go away!
Probably one third of British dairy herds are infected. It alos infects sheep, deer, rabbits, starlings!!!
NEWS July 2011-
In adult cattle, as usual, Johne’s disease was the most commonly diagnosed condition with 85% of these cases being diagnosed by serology. Fasciolosis was the next most common diagnosis followed by Salmonella Dublin and a single case of rumen fluke (Paramphistomum sp).
