Calf Digestive System
Rehydration is the cornerstone of treatment based on Life Guard Electrolyte or Rehydion Gel. Our Diarid boluses are good for managing gut disturbances also.
Disinfection and Colostrum Management are the cornerstones of prevention.
Firstly "KNOW YOUR ENEMY!" - Is it nutritional , management or infectious in case?
Nutritional causes could be varying quality of raw milk, poor quality raw milk, poor quality milk powder.
Management causes could be not enough or weak colostrum, lack of disinfection, adding young calves to groups of older calves.
Infectious causes could be ROTAVIRUS in Calves, CORONAVIRUS, CRYPTOSPORIDIUM, SALMONELLA, COCCIDIOSIS, E.COLI etc. Dont get someone with a test kit, use your vet or myself, and test at least 5 fresh, untreated cases via a proper lab. Remember, you can find bugs when the root cause can be nutritional or managemental!
