Live Yeast improves beef feed conversion

Steve, Ralph and Lesley Botterill buy over 600 strong steers
and heifers a year to finish and sell deadweight. As the margins are
tight, it is a closely monitored enterprise with every animal weighed
in and out.
Daily liveweight gain and margins are calculated for every animal.
On average the cattle are on the farm for 100 days. For the first
seven weeks they are fed a low starch diet, and for the last seven
weeks they are fed ad-lib with a barley based ration and BIOCELL
FARM MIX
added at 2kgs per tonne.

Lesley says
‘Since adding Biocell to the
finishing barley ration, our cattle
have broken all records. The
DLWG has increased on average
by 0.2kgs from 1.3kgs to 1.5kgs
per head per day. That’s over 100
days, and the best cattle are
gaining 1.8kgs per day.
The feed consumption is the same
as before, so BIOCELL is
improving feed conversion’. ‘£2.35 per head investment in BIOCELL is turning into £20 per head quickly!’
