Many years ago, the herd at Pasture Barn had a huge outbreak of mastitis, and the Sanderson Family decided to go back to the routine of post dipping rather than spraying, to ensure good teat coverage. This helped immensely and they have never reverted back.
The herd are prepped using GSAH SweetTEATS as a pre foamer, which ensures the teats are clean and stimulated prior to applying the unit, and is found to be a cost effective, easily visible and effective pre milking routine.
The Sanderson’s have been using GSAH Double Barrel as a post dip for some time. They find the 50/50 mixing of the dip no issue and have a routine prior to every milking, ensuring the dip is fresh and active each time. Robert commented “the teats are conditioned and look and feel healthy, with the high levels of emollient, whilst the barrier quality of the dip completely covers and helps to protect the teat, post milking. The Green/ blue colour makes it highly visible, and any missed teats can easily be seen”
Milking at Pasture Barn Farm is very much a family affair, and everyone agrees that Double Barrel does a great job.

“We used to use another barrier teat dip, and so we tried the Double Barrel Dip,
and found it very similar with its Chlorine Dioxide base, and high emollient levels,
but more competitively priced, plus the added advantage of a local supplier!
I do feel that the barrier properties of Double Barrel Dip helps prevent
bacteria from entering the teat canal, giving it chance to close up post milking.
We find it very easy to mix (we decant out of 200 litre barrels and mix a few days
quantity at a time). The 50:50 ratio for mixing makes it quick and simple. It is
easy to see on the udder, and identify any cows which may have been missed,
teat condition is also good.”
