Usage Rates, Instructions for Use

“Keeping it simple” dose rates:-

Start of housing period- 6 sachets (250g each) per 100cows

Re-seed after a big slurrying session.

Application

For above ground stores it is usually best to add “N-fix” to the reception pit.

For lagoons, spread as evenly as possible and agitate if convenient.

For stores under slatted floors, which are difficult to mix, add to lots of water (e.g. in a slurry tanker with some water and a decent amount of slurry) and pour through the slats.

BEWARE OF SLURRY GAS WHEN EVER AROUND SLURRY, ESPECIALLY IF MIXING SLATTED OR INDOOR SYSTEMS. POTENTIALLY FATAL!

Timing

The store should be re-seeded with “N-fix” each time the slurry store is emptied below a third.

Formalin Foot Baths Inhibit Bacteria

Probably, bugs will not work if footbathing with formalin twice daily.

In Feed Antibiotics

Pigs that are fed infeed antibiotics can inhibit growth of bacteria, antibiotics should be avoided.

Stirring

The lagoon or store should be stirred every two weeks to agitate the bacteria which may sink over time in a still environment. Basically a quick mix is needed.
