These researchers looked at cows that were standing in oestrus during pregnancy and compared various parameters with pregnant, non standing cows in the same herds.

The cows hormones were NO different to the non-standing cows. 

They said its a mystery why it happens. The one thing that stood out was that the cows showing it were significantly fatter.

5.6% of cows showed oestrus during pregnancy.
