Improving the diagnosis of Johne's disease

Moredun magazine , Autumn / Winter 2016 details their latest research into improving the tests for Johne's disease.

They are working on a new test that detects a different type of immune response to MAP , the disease causing agent for Johne's disease.

This has involved testing cattle by old and new methods at different ages and following through to slaughter. Further samples were taken from the animals post-mortem.

It looks very promising.

Further work on the new test is required to find what levels mean that an animal is positive or negative.
